Japanese imports of cotton yarn in September plunged from a year ago, says a report from the Japan Spinners Association.
September imports of cotton yarn dipped to 17,622 bales, down 18.4 percent from the same month last year.
This is the first time since July 2010 that cotton yarn imports declined below the 20,000 bales per month mark.
However cotton yarn imports from Pakistan rose 2.6 percent to 5,696 bales, while from Indonesia fell by a massive 48.3 percent to 4,269 bales.
The trade body attributes the fall to a massive increase in cotton yarn imports in the last few months.
