Spanish Galician textiles to be promoted in Denmark

The northwest Spain's autonomous community of Galicia has decided to promote its textile and clothing in Denmark. A delegation of Danish distribution agents will visit Galicia on a reverse trade mission (that is, to purchase rather than to sell) from 14 to 17 December, the Ourense Chamber of Commerce has said.

The visit is part of a plan to promote sales of Galician products abroad, especially of those companies that are interested in expanding to European markets. During their visit, entrepreneurs from Denmark will have a schedule of meetings with those companies that have been previously short-listed and identified by Danish officials.

The purchasing power of the Danes has been taken into account while selecting the country for promoting Galician textile items. In fact, the Chamber sees special opportunities for companies that offer kidswear as well as those engaged in the manufacturing or marketing of natural fabrics.

Since Denmark has a high birth rate, there is an attractive market for clothes designed for boys and girls. Also, there is an increased awareness about environment among Danish consumers, which calls for the use of organic or recycled materials in manufacturing of textiles.
