China's exports of silk yarn, raw silk up in value

The values of Chinese raw silk, spun silk yarn and silk yarn exports have increased during the initial three quarters of 2011.
The export of raw silk earned US$ 213 million during January to September this year, registering a rise of 26.70 percent year-on-year. However, the volume of exports fell to 4059.68 tons during the period, a decline of 10.98 percent y-o-y. The average price jumped 42.33 percent y-o-y to US$ 52.36 per kg.
During the first three quarters of current year, China exported spun silk yarn worth US$ 94.893 million, a rise of 24.59 percent y-o-y. Volume-wise, the country exported 4020.55 tons of spun silk yarn during the period, showing a growth of 10.87 percent y-o-y. Average price of spun silk yarn, too, increased by 12.37 percent y-o-y to US$ 23.60 per kg.
The period under review saw China exporting silk yarn amounting to US$ 135 million, up 9.85 percent y-o-y. However, volume-wise, the exports declined by 24.99 percent y-o-y to 2436.19 tons. Average price surged by 46.44 percent y-o-y to US$ 55.24 per kg.
