As stated in a fortnightly report released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), by November 15 this year, more than 7.9 million bales of cotton have reached the ginners across the country.

The data is reflective of a 6.92 percent rise in arrivals this year, compared to the figures of cotton arrival during corresponding period of last year.

Around 6.08 million bales have reached ginneries in Punjab, while another 1.88 million bales of cotton have reached ginneries in Sindh.

Till now around 7.27 million cotton bales have been pressed, of which textile millers have procured around 5.78 million bales, while another 244,982 bales were procured by exporters.

Thus, around 1.2 million bales are still lying unsold, and a stock of 689,870 bales is lying as unginned cotton (phutti) at the ginneries.
