The Government of Turkmenistan has successfully achieved its target of procuring 1.05 million tons of cotton under the state procurement plan.
The harvested cotton has been sold by cultivators to fulfil their contractual obligations and it is now being processed at 36 newly set up ginneries.
The processed cotton would be sold to local and overseas buyers through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan.
Since they have already fulfilled their contractual obligations, cotton growers will be able to independently sell any of their fibre, ulyuk and lint cotton produced from cotton which is in excess of the state procurement plan.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov hailed the achievement of the cotton cultivators and emphasized on the need for ensuring proper facilities to store the harvested crop.
