Chinese polyester/cotton yarn market improves

Dec '11
The polyester/cotton (P/C) yarn market in Chinese provinces showed improvement during the past week.

Last week, the polyester staple fibre (PSF) market continued with its rally of the previous week. The price of PSF 1.4D × 38mm was around 11,300 yuan/ton at the end of the week, a sharp increase of 350 yuan/ton from the previous weekend.

The average price of PSF for the week was 11,130 yuan/ton, a significant rise of 370 yuan/ton over the price of previous week.

Thus, there was a rebound in the price of PSF. However, the price of cotton remained stable during the week. The P/C yarn market improved and gave a boost to market confidence and some manufacturers reported increase in shipments.

At present, the mainstream price of P/C yarn T/C65/35 32s is in the range of 19,500-20,000 yuan/ton in Henan, Shandong and Hebei provinces. The market price of higher quality yarns is around 20,000-20,500 yuan/ton.

Due to rebound in raw materials market, the reduction in P/C fabrics price narrowed down during the week.
