In the past 10 years, bilateral trade between China and Australia rose rapidly from less than $1.15 billion in 2001 to $3.79 billion in 2010, growing at any annual average rate of 12.7 percent.
Trade volume of textile and clothing products exceeded US $3.4 billion in the first three quarters this year, showing an increase of 23.4 percent year on year, according to recently released statistics by Chinese Customs.
Among them, China's exports to Australia reached $3.39 billion, an increase of 23.5 percent year on year. China's imports from Australia amounted to $12 million, flat compared with the same time a year ago.
It is predicted that textile and clothing trade between the two countries is expected to reach $4.5 billion this year.
Currently, Australia is China's tenth largest trading partner in textiles and clothing, and China's ninth largest export market. Textiles and clothing account for 4 percent of total bilateral trade between the two countries.
