China's cotton production stood at 6.60 million tons in 2011, an increase of 10.7 percent over the previous year, according to Bureau of Statistics. The state reserve has procured around 2.5 million tons of cotton in the new season.
China's total cotton imports registered 790,400 tons in December 2011, a record in monthly imports till date, also showing an impressive increase of 109 percent from the previous month.
According to estimates of China Cotton Association, total turnover inventory of national cotton is approximately 1.112 million tons, up 24.87 percent from the previous month, but down 20.4 percent year on year.
China Cotton Index 328 rose 7 Yuan to 19,258 Yuan per ton on January 17. China's import price cotton index FCIndexM was 107.02 cents on January 16, equivalent to 17,231 Yuan under 1 percent tariff and 17,707 Yuan under sliding tax.
