The Senate Standing Committee on Textile Industry has urged the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to concentrate on its key goal of improving textile exports by holding various trade expositions overseas.

The Committee recommended TDAP to explore new markets across the globe, especially in Africa and South East Asia, and not limit itself to traditional markets like Germany, France and other EU nations.

The Ministry of Commerce and TDAP were directed by the Senate Committee to take Ministry of Textile Industry in confidence while finalizing the venue and exhibitors/exporters for textile expositions to be held overseas.

The Senate body said the textile sector significantly contributes to Pakistan's total exports, and hence it stressed on enhancing the export potential of the country's textiles.

The Ministry of Textiles, TDAP and the Ministry of Commerce were directed to work together and develop efficient and effective co-ordination between them to serve national interests.
