A one-day workshop on “Improved Method of Eri Silk Worm Rearing” was held in Wokha district in Northeast Indian State of Nagaland.
The workshop was organized by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
Participants in the one-day programme were informed how they can earn livelihood and provide for their family by rearing eri silk worm.
Mr. N Tsenimo Humtsoe said pupae and empty cocoons are currently fetching high prices.
He informed that the Department of Sericulture has opened a cocoon bank at Dimapur for assisting sericulturists.
ATMA, Wokha also distributed Rs. 10,000 to Farmers Interest Group (FIG) for procurement of inputs.
