Petrochemical production is expected to receive a boost in Russia in the next 20 years, following the passage of a policy which will increase capacity in the sector by 2030.
The measures have been formulated in order to meet the increasing demand for petrochemicals which is expected to grow three times by 2030.
Amongst the measures are setting up of petrochemical clusters in various regions like East and West Siberia, the Caspian region, Volga region, Far East and North West regions.
This policy will particularly pay attention to development of large-scale petrochemical capacities and its downstream production facilities, rding to European Plastics News.
Ethylene production capacity is expected to shoot-up 4.8 times by 2030, says the Ministry of Energy – Russia and also expects doubling in availability of raw materials for petrochemical production.
Alongside, around 50 percent of hydrocarbons produced in Russia will be processed into petrochemicals.
