Textile and clothing exports from Spain rose to €9.566 billion in 2011, registering a growth of 12 percent compared to exports worth €8.544 billion achieved in 2010, according to the Centre of Information about Textile and Clothing Industry.
Of this, the textile exports were worth €3.203 billion, showing an increase of 9.6 percent year-on-year, while knitwear and clothing exports accounted for the remaining €6.362 billion, recording a growth of 13.2 percent y-o-y.
During the year, textile and garment imports also grew by 10.2 percent from €13.305 billion in 2010 to €14.665 billion. Of this, the major share of €11.194 billion was of apparels, which increased by 11.5 percent y-o-y. Textile imports accounted for €3.471 billion during the period.
