Chinese cotton demand is expected to witness a steady growth in near future, considering that fixed investments in the textile sector rose 30 percent in 2011, over its previous year.
China imported 2 million tons of cotton in total from September last year to January this year, an increase of 724,000 tons year on year, according to Chinese customs statistics.
Although China's cotton imports fell sharply in January from its previous month, import quantity remained at a high level in the four months, compared with the same period of previous season.
China has released 2012 tariff quota and some quota under sliding tax and the usage ratio of tariff quota increased sharply by more than 80 percent.
A very high ratio of usage of cotton imports quotas is closely related to the development of Chinese domestic textile industry.
