Bernina, the US-based company that manufactures sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, will be hosting the “Make and Take” sewing lab at a music festival to be held on March 16-17, 2012 in Austin, Texas.

At the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival, visitors would be invited to stop by Bernina's “Make and Take” sewing lab, the first ever to be hosted by the company.

At the lab, visitors will be able to design either a unique iPad or tablet case or eReader case or smart phone case from wool felt on a Bernina 380. Visitors would also be able to buy Bernina machines and accessories.

The sewing lab is being supported by Sew Much More, a Bernina dealer in Austin who is also a part of the Bernina Century Club, a list of largest and most-respected Bernina dealers in the US.

At the Music Festival, Bernina will also sponsor BurdaStyle and Style X Design Challenge. For the Challenge, entries were invited along with one fashion sketch and one mood board describing a rock star fashion look.

From the entries, three finalists have been selected by Bernina, BurdaStyle and Style X that includes two womenswear looks and one menswear design. These designs will be worn by musician-models during the Style X Runway Show to be held during the Festival.
