Kaken to open textile products testing firm in Indonesia
Mar '12
PT Kaken Indonesia, a textile testing and product inspection firm, providing consistent testing and inspection services for textile and related products meant for exports to Japan, US and the Europe, would be instituted in Indonesia's Jakarta this April.

The new firm would come up as a result of a joint venture between Japan-based Kaken Test Centre and Kaken Ltd., a firm specializing in product inspection, which split from Japan Synthetic Textile Inspection Institute Foundation in 1998.

Initially, the firm would operate with 25 test personnel, 50 product inspectors and 4 Japanese employees.

The business activity of PT Kaken Indonesia would include providing testing and inspection solutions to fabrics, apparels and stitched items. This includes tests for fibre identification, safety, colour fastness, auxiliary materials, physical properties, needle inspection, product inspection and other sundry tests.

Further, Kaken Indonesia would also house testing machines, particularly to test goods for exports to the US and Europe, which is expected to considerably boost Indonesia's foreign trade.

The new firm would follow the same international standards as of the Kaken Test Centre, so that it can also participate in consultations regarding the testing norms in the US and Europe.

As Indonesia has a population of around 240 million, setting up of a textile product testing company would help the country's textile market to meet the rising demand.
