Japanese naphtha imports plunge in March

Japanese March naphtha imports plunged from a year earlier and also from its previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) revealed.
Imports of naphtha in March, which is raw material to produce ethylene, fell 26 percent year on year and around 20 percent from February 2012.
Japan imported 884,000 tons of naphtha, down from 1.19 million tons in March 2011 and also slipped from 1.10 million tons in February 2012.
However, the average import price grew in March to US $1,009 / ton from $944.9 / ton in February, up 6.78 percent.
