China's May imports of paraxylene (PX) fell from April 2012, but surged from the same month in 2011, according to custom statistics.

PX imports recorded 487,400 tons in May 2012, down by 43,200 tons or 8.14 percent. However May PX imports gushed by 84,900 tons or 21.09 percent from a year ago.

The average import price in May was US $1,576 / ton, 3.03 percent less than the average price in April, and a decrease of 2.79 percent from a year earlier.
