Workers' strike likely to end at Arvind's denim unit

Operations at the Ahmedabad-based Arvind Limited’s denim factory are likely to become normal as the management of the company has agreed to take back sacked employees – a decision that is expected to bring the workers’ strike to an end.

The Arvind group has agreed to withdraw the termination of all the sacked workers, but it will hold an enquiry against those workers who are on strike, a company statement said.

Around 200 workers at Arvind’s Naroda plant, which produces an estimated 84 million metres of denim annually, went on strike earlier this month. The strike affected the production at the textile plant, which employs a total of around 3,400 workers.
