Japan's textiles & apparel imports leap in Jan-May

Japan’s textile and garment imports increased by seven percent year-on-year to US$ 16.9 billion during January to May 2012, according to Statistics Bureau of Japan.
 
Textile and apparel imports from China were worth US$ 12.26 billion and accounted for 73 percent of Japan’s total textile and clothing imports during the five-month period.
 
Japan’s textile and garment imports from Bangladesh grew rapidly by 68 percent year-on-year, during the period under review.
 
Apparel and textile imports from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and China rose by 27.5 percent year-on-year, 23.7 percent, 23.3 percent and 4.14 percent, respectively.
