“We are going to hold the ‘Textile Pakistan - International Conference and Exhibition’ probably in January, February & March 2013 in Pakistan,” Mr. Kanwar Usman, Jt. Secretary & Director, Ministry of Textile Industry, told Fibre2fashion.

“We will be holding exhibition on textiles, including clothing and other sub-sectors. Alongside, there will be few training sessions on cotton, branding, domestic commerce, domestic brands, investments, etc.,” he informs.

“The exhibition will be organized on ITMA-model and it will be taking place in a hall, while training sessions will be held in conference rooms,” he adds.

The Ministry will be actually inviting participants from various countries and regions of the world to give greater exposure to Pakistani exporters and their products.

The participants would be invited from those countries where Pakistani products already enjoy a good share and there is potential to further increase the same. The countries that will come under this category are the UK and the US.

The second category of participants will be from those countries where the potential for selling Pakistani textiles is yet to be tapped. This includes countries like South Africa, Japan, Australia, Russia, as well as countries from the CIS and Africa.

Incidentally, the textile sector is the most developed sector of Pakistan’s economy in terms of its competitiveness at global level. The Ministry believes that the proposed exhibition would be helpful in promoting domestic apparel brands abroad and attracting foreign investment in the country’s textile sector.
