India's textiles & clothing imports from China grow

The Government of India has released statistics of textiles and clothing imports from China during 2007 to 2011.
 
The total textiles and apparel imports from China were worth US$ 1.313 billion in 2007, US$ 1.441 billion in 2008, US$ 1.353 billion in 2009, US$ 1.727 billion in 2010, and US$ 2.190 billion in 2011.
 
During the five-year period, the imports of silk, including yarns and woven fabric thereof, from China decreased from US$ 383 million to US$ 315 million.
 
The import of manmade filaments, including yarns and woven fabrics, rose from US$ 185 million in 2007 to US$ 371 million in 2011.
 
India’s import of knitted or crocheted fabrics grew from US$ 68 million to US$ 244 million during the period under review.
 
The import of cotton, including yarn and woven fabric thereof, remained in the range of US$ 107 million to U$ 174 million during the five-year period.
