Spanish textile sector prices decline in August

Prices in Spanish textile industry fell for the fourth consecutive month in August 2012.
Average textile prices fell by 0.7 percent year-on-year in August, compared to a dip of 0.4 percent in July 2012, according to the data of the National Statistics Institute (INE).
The decrease in textile sector prices was in contrast to the overall Industrial Price Index, which increased by 4.1 percent in August, up from a rise of 2.6 percent in July this year.
Sub-sector wise, prices of garment sector grew by 0.7 percent year-on-year and textile finishing sector rose by 0.4 percent y-o-y.
However, prices of yarn and fabrics declined by 2.7 percent y-o-y and 0.4 percent y-o-y, respectively, in August 2012.
