UL-STR, an independent provider of quality assurance (QA) testing, audit, inspection and responsible sourcing services for the consumer products industry, will present two textile seminars – “An Introduction to Dyeing & Finishing” on November 14, 2012 and “An Introduction to Fabric and Garment Testing” on November 21, 2012 – at its UK laboratory in Nottingham.  The textile training courses are part of an ongoing seminar series on the latest QA issues being offered at UL-STR’s UK offices.

“An Introduction to Dyeing & Finishing” (November 14, 2012, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., cost £75) will cover the theory and practice of textile colouration and textile finishing.  Attendees will learn about: how dyes and fibres combine to give the final product, communicating dyeing needs to suppliers and manufacturing units, avoiding common fastness problems, and auditing dyehouse suppliers.  Ian Smith, Managing Director at Coloursmith Ltd, will present the seminar.

“An Introduction to Fabric and Garment Testing” (November 21, 2012, 9:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., cost £75) will cover both theory and practice regarding the importance of testing and how to test.  Attendees will learn about recommended and required quality, performance and safety testing for the main global markets, as well as test results and performance standards interpretation.  Joanne Brown, Client Services Manager at UL-STR, will present the seminar.

Trusted the world over, UL-STR is an independent provider of quality assurance testing, audit, inspection and responsible sourcing services for the consumer products industry.  Our reach encompasses over 30 countries across five continents and the capability to provide audit services in over 140 countries.  We identify critical control points in the supply chain, develop quality and safety protocols, and verify compliance.  UL-STR is part of UL Verification Services, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories).
