China continues to purchase cotton for state reserves

China is continuing to buy cotton under its temporary purchase plan for 2012. On October 22, China procured 84,100 tons of cotton, which was 8,600 tons more than that bought the previous day.
 
The actual procurement was however less than the planned purchase of 117,400 tons for the day.
 
Xinjiang province sold 54,640 tons of cotton for state reserves, while another 29,460 tons of cotton came from inland regions.
 
As of October 22, China’s total purchase of cotton for state reserves this season was 1,238,090 tons, of which a major share of 962,840 tons came from Xinjiang, while the rest 275,250 tons was bought from inland regions.
