Chinese silk enterprises witness spurt in output

The output of silk textile enterprises in China has grown during the first nine months of the current year, according to the data released by National Bureau of Statistics.
As per the data, 359 large-scale silk reeling and textile enterprises produced 89,007 tons of silk from January to September 2012, registering a growth of 8.77 percent year-on-year.
Among the large-scale enterprises, 37 silk spinning enterprises produced 9,218 tons of spun silk, showing a decline of 28.92 percent year-on-year. Another 255 large-scale enterprises produced 661.87 million metres of silk fabrics, achieving a year-on-year growth of 17.55 percent, while 77 silk quilt enterprises made 42.24 million pieces of silk quilts, up 96.56 percent year-on-year.
As per another set of data, 944 large-scale silk textile and finishing enterprises produced goods worth 81.24 billion yuan from January to September 2012, showing a year-on-year growth of 13.22 percent. These enterprises achieved turnover of 78.85 billion yuan, up 12.84 percent year-on-year.
