China's textile & apparel exports rise modestly in 2012

Textiles and clothing exports from China fetched US$ 254.921 billion during the full year 2012, registering an increase of 2.89 percent year-on-year, according to statistics released by Customs.
 
Of these, exports of textiles, including yarn and fabrics, earned US$ 95.775 billion, showing a year-on-year growth of 1.2 percent, while apparel exports realized US$ 159.145 billion, up 3.9 percent year-on-year.
 
In December 2012, China’s total textile and garment exports stood at US$ 24.1 billion, up 14.9 percent month-on-month and 10.8 percent year-on-year.
 
Of these, textile exports fetched US$ 8.5 billion, up 5.7 percent m-o-m and 3.3 percent y-o-y, while clothing exports earned US$ 15.529 billion, up 20.7 percent m-o-m and 15.52 percent y-o-y.
