China exported US$ 3.045 billion worth of silk and silk products from January to November 2012, showing a year-on-year decline of 5.8 percent, according to statistics from China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT).

Category-wise, silk (fibre and yarn) exports registered US$ 590 million, registering a decrease of 8.4 percent year-on-year. Silk fabrics exports earned US$ 951 million, down 1.2 percent year-on-year, while exports of silk products fetched US$ 1.503 billion, a dip of 7.4 percent year-on-year.

The decline in China’s silk and silk product exports was mainly due to slackening of demand from the US and Europe, two largest importers of Chinese silk.
