Chinese PTA spot market trends on Feb 5

The purified terephthalic acid (PTA) spot market remained light in China on February 5.
In East China, the mainstream offers of PTA were in the range of 8,900-8,950 yuan/ton, bids from downstream buyers were mainly around 8,850 yuan/ton, and negotiated prices were in the range of 8,850-8,900 yuan/ton.
Some PTA manufacturers are likely to shutdown production for holiday period, and hence the market is likely to increase slightly before the spring festival.
For Taiwan produced cargo, offers were around US$ 1,200/ton, but there were almost no bids.
