The Governments of West African country of Nigeria and Southeast Asian nation of Indonesia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on technical cooperation for development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

Alhaji Muhammad Umar, Director-General of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) said the Nigerian Government is expecting Indonesian investment in the country’s textile manufacturing sector, especially for the production of batik fabric, which has high demand in Nigeria.

Mr. Umar said the setting up of batik fabric production units in Nigeria will help in job creation.

He added that the MoU would help Nigeria in seeking Indonesian assistance in upgrading the existing industrial parks to cluster parks and in developing the existing Industrial Development Centres (IDC).

The MoU between Small and Medium Industries (SMI) Directorate of Indonesia and SMEDAN has opened up tremendous business opportunities for Nigerian entrepreneurs, Mr. Umar said.
