The country each year produces about five million square metres of carpets to cater to domestic as well as export market.

Carpets produced in Iran are shipped to over 80 countries in North and Latin America, Europe and some other parts of the world.

Meanwhile, hand-woven rugs constitute to be one of the country’s major non-oil export items, accounting for around three-fourths of the total global output.
