PolyOne Corporation a premier global provider of specialized polymer materials, services and solutions, announced that Julie A. McAlindon has been appointed to the position of senior vice president, and president, Designed Structures and Solutions (DSS), a new business segment under the company’s Specialty Platform.

Concurrent with the acquisition of Spartech, PolyOne will establish DSS, which will be primarily comprised of Spartech’s former Custom Sheet and Rollstock and Packaging Technologies businesses.

“Since Julie joined PolyOne three years ago, she has been an integral part of PolyOne’s Specialty transformation.  She understands our customers, our key markets and how to deliver value that distinguishes us in the marketplace,” said Robert M. Patterson, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“Julie also has the requisite leadership qualities and change management skills that will be critical during the integration process and transformational journey now commencing at DSS.  She and her family are relocating to the St. Louis area, which will continue as the DSS center of innovation excellence.”

Ms. McAlindon previously served as vice president, marketing, where she successfully collaborated with commercial and technology teams on initiatives that have driven profitable growth at PolyOne in key markets, such as healthcare, electronics and automotive.

She joined PolyOne after a 20-year career with The Dow Chemical Company, during which time she held commercial assignments of increasing responsibility focused on strategic marketing and business leadership. In these roles, she gained extensive knowledge and global experience in operations, finance, product management and strategic marketing. Ms. McAlindon earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to lead this important new business at PolyOne,” said Ms. McAlindon.  “I’m excited to collaborate with our newest associates and the entire PolyOne team to collectively innovate, execute and drive specialty value for our customers.  Our DSS solutions portfolio has tremendous potential to expand and globalize, and I’m eager to turn that potential into reality.”
