Skirtings were generally down on Tuesday, apart from the West were the market was reported as generally unchanged.   Wednesday’s market appeared to steady in the North and the West, but eased in the South.  Fine crossbreds were unchanged or down slightly for the week, while medium and coarse crossbreds were down by similar amounts to most Merino types.  It was a better week for oddments, which generally closed on a firm note

Buyers for China were dominant, with support from buyers for Europe, India and Korea.

Sales will be in recess next week and resume in the week commencing 8 April (Week 41), when 51,327 bales are currently rostered for sale in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle.  The present estimate for the following sale (Week 42) is 45,706 bales; a decrease of 17.8% over the two sale period when compared with last year.

The year-on-year change is showing a false high value because of the Easter break in Week 41 last year.
