Hong Kong-origin textile and clothing undergoing outward processing on the Mainland will be exempted from export duties posed by it.
The agreement was made at the Joint Steering Committee meeting of CEPA, chaired by the Director-General of Trade & Industry Raymond Young and the Director-General of the Department of Taiwan, Hong Kong & Macau Affairs Wang Liaoping, in Beijing.
Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology John Tsang welcomed the decision.
"I am glad to note the Mainland has responded promptly and favorably to our concerns. The Ministry of Commerce's decision would certainly help eliminate adverse impact to our textile and clothing exports," Mr Tsang said.
The meeting also saw consensus that the automatic export licensing measure applied on exports to Hong Kong also be dispensed with.
