Ramos discuss trade & economic cooperation with DCCI

Dhaka Chambers announces meeting with HE Fidel V Ramos, Former President of the Republic of Philippines was held at the Auditorium of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry(DCCI) to discuss areas for cooperation for furtherance of trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh & Philippines at this stage of globalization.

“ I can say that now the relation between South Asia and ASEAN is growing which will pave the way for moving to North East Asia” said Ramos while speaking at the meeting.

He further said that creation of FTA may improve the possibilities to increase trade and businesses but it will not move further if private and public sector do not cooperate each other. He accruing positive achievement from FTA private sector should push and push.

He further added by saying that Bangladesh and Philippines are both democratic republic countries should forge initiatives to address terrorism, which is not possible to be resolved unless joint and integrated efforts are taken.

He said we should learn how to produce more value added products and should join hands together to develop Productive Culture in this free market economy.

Norberto R. Basilio Ambassador, Embassy of Philippines, Atty. Frumencio A Lagustan, Executive Director Ramos Peace and Development Foundation Inc were also present in the meeting

President DCCI, MA Momen chaired the meeting, in his speech he recalled first visit of Fidel V Ramos to Chamber and said, special emphasis should be given to invest in education to convert import-based economy to a knowledge –based one.
