SON rages against dumping of sub-standard textile products

John Akanya, Director-General, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), explained that the preventing the distribution of sub-standard and deceptive textile products in the market will generate positive results for the sector.

The smuggling of such goods should also be stopped so as to develop textile industry.

This will generate legal employment and help in the fight against poverty.

Akanya also informed that several government organizations are supporting SON it its struggle against dumping of inferior goods in the Nigerian markets.

He said that unless the government lays down strict laws and regulations and is able to execute them effectively, the dumping of low-standard products will not be eradicated completely.

Availability of proper facilities like water, health-care, safe infrastructure and access roads was also very important to raise the quality of living.
