Iranian petrochemical complexes produced around 40 million tons of petrochemicals during last Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2013, the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Planning Manager Ramezan Oladi has said.

Of the total produce, about 15.8 million tons of petrochemicals valued at around US$ 11.2 billion was exported, while another 12.2 million tons worth 156.9 billion rials was consumed domestically, FARS News Agency reported quoting the official.

During the year, 5,600 million tons of new petrochemical production capacity was added to the country’s already installed capacity of 51,500 million tons.

While the contribution of petrochemical sector to Iran’s industrial exports stood at 47 percent, its share in the country’s non-oil exports was 38 percent.

Mr. Oladi said the second phase of West Ethylene Pipeline and the Kavian Petrochemical Plant are on priority list of NPC. Last year, the first phase of West Ethylene Pipeline, with a capacity of 33,000-34,000 tons, was inaugurated.

On the issue of providing feedstock for the West Ethylene Pipeline and plants located alongside, Mr. Oladi said the issue would be resolved with launch of phase 15, 16, 17 and 18 of South Pars.
