The Kalatmak Handicrafts Self Help Group Foundation, a handicraft company based in Lucknow in North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Argentinean province of San Luis.

The deal would not only allow Kalatmak to explore the Latin American and Argentina markets through the San Luis based Free Zone and Logistic Hub, but also to market textile, handloom and handicraft and other related products made in India, in those markets, Times of India reported.

The deal would see extensive sharing of ideas and collaboration between the two sides to promote each other’s textile, handicraft and micro-home-based enterprises.

The MoU was signed by Walter Padula, the Minister for Industry, Government of the Province of San Luis, Argentina and Mansoor Nadeem Lari, CEO of Kalatmak Handicrafts Shg Foundation, during the ‘India-Argentina Business Summit- Partnering for Growth & Shared Prosperity’ held on May 12, 2013, in Agra.

Following the cooperation, Kalatmak would also hold several special events aimed at promoting Indian textiles, handlooms and handicrafts in San Luis, and also spur exports of these products to Latin America.
