Iran is set to export 17.4 million tons of petrochemical products through the current Iranian calendar year that ends on March 20, 2014, Abdolhossein Bayat, Managing Director of National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NPC) has said.

Addressing a press conference after the 10th Petrochemical Forum, Mr. Bayat informed that the country’s petrochemical exports for last Iranian calendar year totalled to about 16 million tons.

He said Iran’s petrochemical industry presently has an installed capacity of 60 million tons, which is likely to go up to 100 million tons by the end of the Fifth Five Year Economic Development Plan (2010-15).

Over the past few years, Iran has significantly widened the range as well as volume of its petrochemical products, and the country now supplies its products to over 60 countries, with the Far East, Southeast Asia, Africa and Central Asia being its key export destinations.
