China's textile exports to Vietnam surge in Jan-April'13

From January to April 2013, China exported US$ 3.86 billion worth of textiles and garments to Vietnam, showing an increase of 64.3 percent year-on-year, according to Chinese customs statistics.
 
Of this, clothing exports skyrocketed by 133 percent year-on-year to US$ 1.53 billion, accounting for 40 percent of total textile and apparel exports from China to Vietnam during the four-month period.
 
Fabrics accounted for 45.5 percent of total Chinese textile and garment exports to Vietnam and were valued at US$ 1.76 billion, showing an increase of 51 percent year-on-year.
 
Yarn exports were valued at US$ 200 million, down 21.8 percent year-on-year, and accounted for 5.2 percent share of total Chinese textiles and garment exports to Vietnam. Of this, synthetic yarn exports stood at US$ 130 million, up 36.2 percent year-on-year. Cotton yarn exports were valued at US$ 44 million, down 62 percent year-on-year. Wool and animal yarn exports showed an increase of 128 percent.
 
Exports of manufactured textiles, other than clothing, fabric and yarn, to Vietnam fetched US$ 370 million for China, registering a rise of 36.4 percent, and accounting for 9.6 percent of all Chinese textile and apparel exports to Vietnam during January-April 2013.
 
During the period under review, China imported US$ 370 million worth of textiles and apparel from Vietnam, up 26.5 percent year-on-year. Yarn imports accounted for 66 percent of total imports.
