INVISTA, one of the world's largest integrated producers of polymers and fibers has teamed up with Vardhman group, one of India’s largest core spinners, to develop spun yarns with LYCRA T166L Fiber that has been specially designed for robust processing performance in the manufacturing of stretch woven fabrics.

The core spun yarns manufactured by Vardhman with INVISTA’s technological know-how & and LYCRA T166L Fiber are optimized for woven fabrics.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Manjul Jain, Yarn Marketing Head, Vardhman Limited said “LYCRA T166L Fiber can be combined with natural or synthetic fibers and provides excellent performance for core spinning. We at Vardhman have already done successful trial of the product and the core spun yarns with LYCRA fiber type 166L will be available from July 2013 onwards.”

He further added “For niche applications, we are doing sampling in core spun yarn with 105 D LYCRA fiber, blend with COOLMAX fiber for COOLMAX fabric, blend with THERMOLITE fiber for THERMOLITE fabric and are also doing sampling in dualcore spinning machine to produce yarn for LYCRA(R) dualFX(R) fabric”.

LYCRA T166L can be used with a broad range of woven applications, including ready to wear, active sportswear and denim. The fiber can also be subjected to a variety of finishes and styles for the garments.

Andrew Evans, Managing Director, South Asia said “A common problem faced by the stretch fabric manufacturers including Vardhman is the breakage of the yarns during production. Our latest innovation LYCRA T166L is the solution to this issue. It showcases excellent break performance due to high tenacity and thus allows easy manufacturing. At the same time it yields a finished fabric with a good recovery power.”

He further added, “The category of stretch garments is one of the fastest growing in the apparel industry owing to the evolving lifestyle, consumption patterns and needs of the consumer. Primarily the consumers are increasingly seeking comfort, freedom of movement, excellent quality, durability and enhanced performance. With the mushrooming of a variety of players in the stretch fabric market, focus on product innovation and improved productivity would help our customers stand apart.”

The premier innovation and added advantages support Vardhaman’s business plans for aggressive expansion within the bullish stretch fabric market in India.
