The 14th China textile and apparel trade exhibition, organized by the China Textile Industry Association at the New York Javits Convention Center, saw participation of a total of 477 Chinese exhibitors.

The number of exhibitors increased 37 percent compared to last year. Chinese exhibitors are mainly from Shanghai, Shandong, Zheijiang, Jiangsu, Guangzhou, Tianjin and other cities.

The exhibition was held concurrently with the 15th Texworld USA, one of the largest apparel fabric shows in North America and the fourth Homes Textiles sourcing expo as well as the International Apparel sourcing show.

Around 700 exhibitors from 21 countries are participating in the three-day show.

Although the industry has faced a relatively complex domestic and international economic situation, the pace of reorganization and transformation and upgrades has increased and these efforts have yielded positive results, vice president of Chinese Textile Industry Association, Zhang Yankai said during the opening ceremony.

China’s textile and apparel exports jumped 12 percent year-on-year to US$ 127.21 billion from January to June 2013, according to the data from the General Administration of Customs.

Of this, textile exports climbed 10.1 percent year-on-year to US$ 51.16 billion, while clothing exports rose by 13.4 percent year-on-year to US$ 76.05 billion.

In 2012, China's textile and apparel exports to the US amounted US$ 39.668 billion.
