Global propylene prices continue upward trend

The upward trend of propylene prices continued across the US, Europe and Far East Asia during the week ending August 24, 2013.
 
In South Korea, propylene prices were assessed in the range of US$ 1385-1395/ton during the week ending August 24, 2013. During the fortnight ending August 15, average prices were US$ 1345-1350/ton, while they were US$ 1325-1330/ton during the fortnight ending July 31.
 
In Japan too, propylene prices showed rising trend and were assessed in the range of US$ 1375-1390/ton during the week ending August 24. During the fortnight ending August 15, average prices rose by about 2 percent over prices of US$ 1315-1320/ton registered during the fortnight ending July 31.
 
In Europe, propylene prices were around € 1050/ton during the week ending August 24. During the fortnight ending August 15, prices increased by about 4 percent to US$ 1040-1045/ton, compared to prices of US$ 1000-1005/ton in the July 16-31 fortnight.
 
In the US market, prices of propylene were assessed at 60.15-61.65 cents/pound during the week ending August 24. The fortnight ending August 15 saw a 6 percent rise in prices to 55-60 cents/pound, due to firm energy market couple with bullish buying sentiments.
