China's Ethylene output up 5.6% in Jan-August'13

The production of ethylene by China’s petrochemical industry increased by 5.6 percent year-on-year to 10.53 million tons during the first eight months of the current year, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) data showed.
The NDRC said the main business income of China’s petrochemical industry rose 9.9 percent year-on-year to 6.6 trillion yuan (approx. US$ 1.07 trillion) during January-July 2013 period, Xinhua reported.
The net profit of China’s petrochemical industry totaled 221 billion yuan during the first seven months of the current year, which is a rise of 45 billion yuan or 43 percent year-on-year.
The surge in profits was due to the units turning from losses into a profit during the seven-month period, according to NDRC.
