Fair Trade India adds silk clothing to product catalog

Oct '13
Fair Trade India recently made an announcement about its updated product catalog that has been enriched with some new entries. Its new product categories include herbal cosmetic products, soaps and detergents, natural health supplements, and pure cotton and silk clothes. These new product categories will invite genuine and high-quality producers or suppliers to display their products on the company’s website.

The company views this decision as a contribution to its ongoing efforts to support original producers in getting a fair price for their products. The new categories will cover more suppliers who are currently losing their share of money due to the involvement of intermediaries in the supply-chain. The elimination of intermediaries will help these suppliers get in direct touch with their buyers.

The company’s decision will also help more suppliers reach a wider range of customers worldwide. Currently, many of these suppliers of natural products have very limited reach within their home country. However, by adding more products to its website, the company will now become a better marketing platform for such product suppliers
