Southeast Asian MEG prices continue downward trend
07
Oct '13
The prices of Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) continued to show downward trend due to fall in feedstock prices coupled with sluggish buying sentiment.

The average prices of MEG in Southeast Asian markets were recorded at US$ 1090/ton during the fortnight ending September 15, which decreased by 2.29 percent to US$ 1065/ton in the fortnight ending September 30. The downward trend continued and prices were assessed at US$ 1060/ton on October 5.

In China, average MEG prices were US$ 1085/ton during the fortnight ending September 15, which declined by 2.26 percent to US$ 1060/ton during the fortnight ending September 30, due to poor market demand.

In Europe and US, average MEG prices were US$ 1235/ton and 50 cents/pound, respectively, during the second fortnight of September, same as the prices assessed during the previous fortnight, due to firm energy market.
