China's textile & garment exports grow steadily in Oct'13

The exports of textiles and apparel from China grew steadily at 5.9 percent year-on-year to US$ 24.09 billion in October 2013, according to the data released by the Chinese customs.

Segment-wise, the exports of textile yarn, fabrics and related products earned US$ 8.57 billion, registering an increase of 6.4 percent year-on-year, while exports of apparel and clothing accessories earned US$ 15.52 billion, showing an increase of 5.5 percent year-on-year. The growth rate remained essentially flat compared to September 2013.

From January to October 2013, China’s total textile and apparel exports stood at US$ 233.56 billion, showing a growth of 11.3 percent year-on-year, which is higher than the overall export growth achieved by China during the same period.

Textile exports increased by 11 percent year-on-year to US$ 87.76 billion during the first ten months of the current year, while apparel exports swelled by 11.5 percent year-on-year to US$ 145.8 billion, according to the data.

In 2012, China exported textiles and apparel valued at US$ 254.921 billion, registering a modest increase of 2.89 percent year-on-year. Of these, exports of textiles, including yarn and fabrics, earned US$ 95.775 billion, showing a year-on-year growth of 1.2 percent, while apparel exports realized US$ 159.145 billion, up 3.9 percent year-on-year.
