Taiwan-based Nan Ya Plastics Corporation has shut its No.3 monoethylene glycol (MEG) line for maintenance turnaround.

“The No.3 MEG line was shut on November 15, and it is likely to remain shut for more than a month,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

Located in Mai-Liao, Taiwan, the No.3 line has a production capacity of 360,000 mt/year.

The next year’s maintenance schedule has not yet been decided by the company, the official informed.

The MEG plant located in Mai-Liao has four lines. Line Nos 1, 2 and 3 each have a capacity of 360,000 tons per annum, while Line No. 4 has a capacity of 720,000 tons per annum.

MEG is the most widely used chemical from the Glycol family. It is an essential raw material for Polyester fibres and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) polymer.
