China uses indigenous FR fabric for rescue personnel

China has independently developed fire-retardant (FR) fabric and apparel and has also successfully put the same to use.

The FR fabric has been developed by Shaanxi Yuanfeng Textile Technology Research Co. Ltd., China’s research and development base for security and protection textiles.

The FR products are developed using high-tech fibres and latest spinning, weaving and special finishing and other special technologies. The products can withstand high temperature, are flame retardant, have high-strength, and also have anti-static, anti-oil and water-repellent functions.

The performance of the products is found to be above the relevant Chinese national standards, and can achieve import substitution for effectively improving the rescue wear at the domestic level.

The Shaanxi Yuanfeng Textile Technology Research Co, depending on the Ministry of Public Security and the National Science and Technology Program, worked in close cooperation with the upstream and downstream units to accelerate the localization of high-performance fibres to meet the constantly improving national public safety protection requirements.

Shaanxi Yuanfeng has successfully delivered 100,000 metres of clothing fabric to Public Security Fire Department, according to reports.
