Zimbabwe's cotton export are set to reach US $140 million mark while the crop is estimated at 127,000 tons this year.
Cotton has emerged as a one of the highest produced agro-export commodity and major chunk is being produced in the communes.
According to industry officials, 7,000 tons of cotton seeds was distributed to raise the cotton-growing areas.
At present, 300,000 hectares plus area is under cotton production.
Domestic players buy cotton directly from the farmers without assisting them in the cultivation and that can be a destabilising factor for country's foreign currency earning ability.
This January, Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) initiated the move to regulate 'unfaithful' farmers who violated contractual farming agreements.
