According to the estimates of CONAB, the shipments of cotton from the Brazilian state is expected to decline to 270,000 tons , thereby decreasing the revenue from US$ 673 million in 2013, to US$ 468 million in 2014.

As per CONAB, the expected decline in exports is attributed to the fall of demand from China, the largest importer of cotton from Mato Grosso, which in 2013 imported less cotton from the state compared to previous years. Another factor to affect shipments of cotton is the decline in production of cotton in the state.
